Dior US is working with us on ‘Girl in Dior’

I’m proud to say Dior US is enthusiastically on board for our beautiful GN Girl in Dior coming everywhere in March. They are already busy helping us get the word out to their connections in the fashion press on this stunning book which I anticipate to be one the highlights of our coming months.

Girl In Dior

Besides that, Kinokuniya, the very cool international bookstore chain with a slant on art books, will be hosting the launch party for it in March in New York, with an exhibit of the book’s original art.

I’ve already fielded an interview with a major newspaper… more on that soon…

I have a feeling this one is gonna blow the roof off!

After the sellout of Beauty and with other strong books coming (see in particular Ghetto Brother), we’re all just kinda feelin’ warm and fuzzy right now.

Coming Up: The Debut of the Girl In Dior

dior

We are very happy to announce our newest book: GIRL IN DIOR. Creator Annie Goetzinger portrays the origins of the House of Dior and its captivating leader, Christian Dior, all through the eyes of the fictitious Carla, fledgling fashion journalist whose life is about to take an exciting turn. This biography docudrama was originally printed in France to great acclaim and is now being translated to English after much request. See the solicitation in this month’s Diamond Previews magazine for February!

Praise for the French release:

“A portrait full of lightness and class, capable of charming even men, so you can imagine how women will love this.” -Le Figaro
“Great gift idea” -Elle
“A beautiful work, chic, brilliant and moving” -Questions de Femmes
“Sumptuous” -Le Nouvel Observateur

Dior

The Girl in Dior is Clara, a freshly hired chronicler, fan of fashion and our guide in the busy corridors of the brand new house of Christian Dior. It’s February 12, 1947 and the crème de la crème of Paris Haute Couture is flocking to the momentous event of Dior’s first show. In a flurry of corolla shaped skirts, the parade of models file down the runway. The audience is mesmerized: it’s a triumph! Carmel Snow of Harper’s Bazaar cries out: “It’s quite a revolution, your dresses have such a new look!“ Dior’s career is launched and Clara’s story begins. Soon, she is picked by Dior himself to be his model…
A biography docudrama marrying fiction and the story of one of the greatest couturier in history, it is also a breathless and stunning presentation of his best designs such as Lauren Bacall wore, rendered by bestselling artist Annie Goetzinger, seen for the first time on this side of the Atlantic.

Another to amaze is our first accordion book:

Street View

STREET VIEW
Pascal Rabaté
A visually incomparable treat and a brilliant homage to Hitchcock’s Rear Window, this unusual accordion book opens in two directions. One, a series of ten tableaux on a street scene as it evolves during the day. The next on 10 evening tableaux of the same view. A window may serve as a source of light and fresh air, but it also presents a view onto the life of a street and its many other windows, each a separate scene of its own, with its multitude of on-going stories developing before your eyes. Within those windows, you can witness the lives of single people, couples, families, stories of love, separation and possibly even… murder.

Previews

We have posted our publishing plans to February next year: new Dungeon! GN on Dior.

Our Fall list is up in the COMING UP section! Come take a look at the goodies we have planned.

Two major bits of news:

DUNGEON: Twilight Vol.4

DUNGEON makes its return! The long awaited new volume is due out in November with the final chapter of the end of Dungeon, in the Twilight sub-series. Finally Sfar and Trondheim found the time to get back together and, as we’ve done in the past, the two volumes that just got published in France will be brought together into one print volume. Mind you final chapter doesn’t necessarily mean no new stories within the sub-series Zenith or Early Years or such. This may not be the last word!

But the other big news on this series is that we’ve finally been given the green light to bring the whole massive epic into E-BOOKS! Starting in a few weeks, Comixology will be featuring a volume a week. The rest of the e-book world will follow closely after as well. The BIG difference here is we are separating back out the volumes as they were originally published, not two at a time as we had done for print! each e-book will be $4.99. Look out for our announcements on this.

MISS DON’T TOUCH ME

Another biggie for this season happens in February: GIRL IN DIOR a stylish, elegant and breezy docudrama bio of the designer Christian Dior by a grand dame of French comics who we’re proud to bring to these shores for the first time: Annie Goetzinger.

BEAUTY

Also, look out for the next Kerascoet/Hubert masterpiece: BEAUTY as well as a reprinting in a larger and hardcover format of their beloved classic MISS DON’T TOUCH ME.

But wait, we’ve got a new Davodeau (Initiates), Patrick (Yellow Jar) Atangan is back plus the very unusual accordion book Street View. Plenty of other great stuff, check it out!
